Joel Oroz is an adventurous Jazz Drummer and Composer born and raised in Phoenix, AZ. He began playing drums at the age of 5, and began studying formally at age 10. Throughout his development he has been inspired by drum masters such as Tony Williams, Philly Joe Jones, Billy Higgins, Elvin Jones amongst many others. He has over 10 years of extensive performance experience at venues such as the Musical Instrument Museum, The Nash Jazz Club, Mesa Arts Center, The Van Buren, Crescent Ballroom, Valley Bar, and more. Joel completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Arizona State University under the direction of Lewis Nash, Michael Kocour, and Dom Moio. He plays Zildjian and Istanbul Agop cymbals, Gretsch Rogers and Yamaha Drums, and Vic Firth sticks. Currently based in Los Angeles, you can find him performing in the Phoenix and Los Angeles areas.
